Untargeted Metabolomics Profiling of High Beta Carotene Cassava with respect to Postharvest Physiological Deterioration
نویسندگان
چکیده
Cassava roots undergo postharvest physiological deterioration (PPD), and for most varieties it sets in within 72 hours of harvest. An untargeted metabolomics approach combined with a data-driven statistical analysis was used to characterize profile high beta-carotene cassava the aim identifying any relevant metabolite changes that occur during PPD. Sixteen root samples from four lines were planted greenhouse harvested after months. The included 2 conventionally bred beta carotene – UMUCASS 38, 45 transgenic cultivars - EC20-7 EC20-8 lines. Extracts fresh 20-100 mg tissues analyses data processed using Elements Metabolomics software. Starch lipid metabolites major constituents which may help explain observed differences starch dry matter content among varieties. results provide further insight understanding PPD suggestions on controlling this are made.

Data supporting the role of enzymes and polysaccharides during cassava postharvest physiological deterioration
This data article is referred to the research article entitled The role of ascorbate peroxidase, guaiacol peroxidase, and polysaccharides in cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) roots under postharvest physiological deterioration by Uarrota et al. (2015). Food Chemistry 197, Part A, 737-746. The stress duo to PPD of cassava roots leads to the formation of ROS which are extremely harmful and accel...
متن کاملProteomic analysis of injured storage roots in cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) under postharvest physiological deterioration
Postharvest physiological deterioration (PPD) is a global challenge in the improvement of cassava value chain. However, how to reduce cassava spoilage and reveal the mechanism of injured cassava storage roots in response to PPD were poorly understood. In the present study, we investigated the activities of antioxidant enzymes of cassava injured storage roots in PPD-susceptible (SC9) and PPD-tol...
متن کاملComparative Physiological and Transcriptomic Analyses Reveal the Actions of Melatonin in the Delay of Postharvest Physiological Deterioration of Cassava
Melatonin plays important roles in various aspects of biological processes. However, it is less known on the effects and mechanism of melatonin on the postharvest physiological deterioration (PPD) process of cassava, which largely restricts the potential of cassava as a food and industrial crop. In this study, we found that exogenous application of melatonin significantly delayed PPD of cassava...
متن کاملMetabolomics combined with chemometric tools (PCA, HCA, PLS-DA and SVM) for screening cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) roots during postharvest physiological deterioration.
Cassava roots are an important source of dietary and industrial carbohydrates and suffer markedly from postharvest physiological deterioration (PPD). This paper deals with metabolomics combined with chemometric tools for screening the chemical and enzymatic composition in several genotypes of cassava roots during PPD. Metabolome analyses showed increases in carotenoids, flavonoids, anthocyanins...
متن کاملUntargeted metabolomics.
Along with genes and proteins, metabolites play important roles in sustaining life. Their functions include "primary" functions in metabolism and energy storage, as well as "secondary" functions in cell-to-cell signaling, metal acquisition, and virulence. There remains much to be learned about the in vivo roles of metabolites. Approaches that accelerate measurement of metabolite levels directly...
